After the end of the 2021/22 Bundesliga season, Borussia Dortmund will embark on a trip to Israel from 15 to 18 May 2022.

A friendly match against the five-time national champion Maccabi Netanja is on the agenda as well as a visit to the Holocaust memorial Yad Vashem. In addition to the entire professional squad, members of the BVB management and BVB legends will also be part of the delegation of the eight-time German champions.

“We have long and grown ties to and from Israel, which is why we were particularly pleased when we received the invitation for a friendly match against Maccabi Netanja,” says Hans-Joachim Watzke, Ceo of Borussia Dortmund, also emphasizes: “We were welcomed with open arms during our visits to Israel in 2019 and 2020 and had many memorable encounters with the people in the country. I am all the more looking forward to visiting our many Israeli fans and making new friends with the team.”

Carsten Cramer from the management of BVB adds: “It is a matter of course for us to take the opportunity of this trip to visit Yad Vashem with the entire Borussia Dortmund team. We are particularly excited about the construction progress of the ‘House of Collections’.” BVB had supported the project with a donation of one million euros, through the ‘House of Collections’ personal documents, works of art and artifacts can be preserved for future generations and thus the history of the Holocaust and the individual Jews can be made visible.

On Tuesday, 17 May (kick-off time still open), Maccabi Netanja will meet at the 29,400-seat Bloomfield Stadium. The future sporting director Sebastian Kehl explains: “At the end of our season with all its ups and downs, we are still looking forward to an attractive showdown against an Israeli top team. We are looking forward to the certainly euphoric atmosphere in the stadium and would like to make our contribution to an unforgettable evening for many BVB fans in Israel.”
