Socceroos’ 2020 Copa America bid to air on Optus Sport
Australian telecommunications company Optus has secured live broadcast rights to every game from this year’s CONMEBOL Copa America, as the Socceroos take part in South American soccer’s men’s national team tournament.

The deal marks the latest live national team soccer acquisition for Optus Sport, the company’s dedicated sports over-the-top (OTT) service which recently surpassed 825,000 subscribers, joining the UEFA Euro 2020 tournament on the off-season schedule.

Due to take place in Argentina and Colombia from 13th June to 13th July, the 2020 Copa America will also feature Qatar as part of an expanded 16-team format.

Corin Dimopoulos, head of TV and content at Optus, said: “We are really pleased to be the home of every match of the Copa America tournament and to showcase the Socceroos on their quest against the best teams from South America.

“Optus Sport continues to grow and attract new content; with an active subscribing base of over 825,000 and other recent rights acquisitions including the FA Women’s Super League and the J League.

“From Lionel Messi and Neymar in the Copa America, to Cristiano Ronaldo and Kylian Mbappé in Euro 2020, what was already a big year for Optus Sport has now become a whole lot bigger.”

The Socceroos line up alongside Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, Bolivia and Uruguay in Group A at the tournament, with the Australian national team’s first match scheduled for 14th June.
