LaLiga Global Fútbol News: Free online masterclasses from LaLiga Business school
A series of half-hour classes from LaLiga’s top professionals and decision makers are available online. Topics include economic control, anti-piracy, brand building, data analytics, global communications and digital communications.

Authorities around the world are encouraging people to stay at home during the coronavirus outbreak and, for many, this period of lockdown represents an opportunity to learn new skills. To help those keen to further their education and knowledge, LaLiga Business school is running a series of free online classes for anyone to join.

The series titled #LaLigaSeAprendeEnCasa (‘LaLiga Is Being Learned At Home’) features daily 30-minute videos that explain how the competition built its global profile through a series of important measures. These include economic control, anti-piracy, building a visual identity, data and analytics, global communications and digital communications.  In addition, current issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic will be addressed.

With LaLiga having expanded from 35 to around 600 employees in the past five years, the competition is evidence of how quickly sports bodies can increase their global footprint and develop new areas of expertise. There has always been a desire to help other leagues, federations and clubs in their efforts to train staff and to develop the same expertise as this can help the football industry as a whole.

As José Moya, Director of LaLiga Business School, explained: “We work to help professionalise the sports industry at all levels. This is a very difficult time for global sport but with a collective effort the industry can come back stronger. We want to help by sharing the expertise we have developed here at LaLiga. The more experts and the greater knowledge we have in the industry, the better.”

All #LaLigaSeAprendeEnCasa videos are available in the multimedia section of the LaLiga Business School website.

This initiative is the latest in LaLiga’s global campaign to encourage people to stay at home and support local health services during the COVID-19 crisis. The ‘LaLiga Se Juega En Casa’ (‘LaLiga Is Being Played At Home’) campaign  has organised LaLigaSantander Fest, a unique virtual concert, as well as LaLiga Santander Challenge, an online FIFA20 tournament, both of which raised money for the fight against the coronavirus and which helped keep football fans entertained.

LaLiga Business School is an education project that was launched in 2018 to detect and develop talent that could provide added value to the sports industry. The programmes and their contents are developed by LaLiga professionals and classes are taught at the competition’s Madrid headquarters by league and club professionals, sponsors, broadcast partners, law firms and agencies that form part of LaLiga’s network.

Training is designed in accordance with current industry demands, with personalized attention given to students and with strong collaboration with key industry players. As a result, the courses offer a high employability rate.

Internationally, LaLiga Business School has 17 partnerships with some of the most prestigious universities and institutions, such as Lagos Business School (Nigeria), Columbia University (New York, USA), the Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico (ITAM) and the Aspire Zone Foundation (Qatar). Government institutions such as the Ministry of Sports of Puerto Rico and Georgia are also part of the initiative, along international football leagues such as the Tanzanian Football Federation and the Malaysian Super League.
