Inter Miami unveil Fanatics deal after breaking MLS merch record
Inter Miami, the Major League Soccer (MLS) expansion team part-owned by English soccer icon David Beckham, have unveiled a long-term omnichannel retail partnership with apparel and merchandise giant Fanatics.

The deal will see Fanatics manage all in-venue retail operations at the club’s Inter Miami CF Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, where the club will play their home games until their new ground, Miami Freedom Park, is completed in 2022.

Physical retail sites at Inter Miami CF Stadium include pop-up shops, kiosks and custom trailers, all of which will sell team jerseys, hats, outerwear, accessories, women’s and youth products. Fanatics Brands, the SoftBank-backed company’s in-house apparel division, will also provide the club with Miami-inspired products with distinct team colours.

As well as overseeing Inter Miami’s in-venue retail operation, Fanatics will also run ecommerce for the club through its existing deal to operate MLSStore.com.

“We are very proud of our partnership with Fanatics because of the direct value they bring our fans as an expert in managing licensed sports merchandise,” said Inter Miami Chief Operating Officer and Sporting Director Paul McDonough. “Our fans are craving for more opportunities to wear our brand and represent Inter Miami and Fanatics helps them achieve this through the distribution of fan gear apparel and accessories in our home stadium and online.”

News of the partnership came as Fanatics revealed that Inter Miami have been the top-selling MLS team across its network since the start of the 2020 regular season.

The club also almost doubled the previous record for online merchandise sales by an expansion team during the opening weekend of play. Fanatics said it had sold Inter Miami products to fans in more than 40 countries during the team’s inaugural weekend, with the UK accounting for more than 50 per cent of all international sales outside the US.

Inter Miami have lost their two opening games in North America’s top-flight soccer league. They host the Los Angeles Galaxy in their next fixture on Saturday.
