Arsenal enlist Blackbird for remote video production
English top-flight football club Arsenal have signed a partnership with cloud-based video solutions provider Blackbird to produce a wide variety of short-form content, including compilations of archive footage, for their digital and social media channels.

Though the Premier League outfit remain out of action during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the deal will also see Blackbird create clips from live matches when competition resumes, while also working in collaboration with the club’s in-house Arsenal Media Group.

Content will be created using Blackbird’s remote-production capabilities, and will also include clips from press conferences, training sessions and the club's TV studio, featuring punditry by former players.

“Having Arsenal as Blackbird's newest customer is a real thrill,” said Blackbird Chief Executive Ian McDonough. “Their video production teams have a fast-growing reputation of high-quality output.

“Like many teams with discerning global fan bases they have distributed video creators across multiple sites. With Blackbird they solve the puzzle of working collaboratively and remotely while turning around high-quality content quickly and cost effectively.”

Meanwhile, Premier League rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers have extended a partnership with over-the-top (OTT) solutions company StreamAMG, which helped relaunch the club’s WolvesTV direct-to-consumer (DTC) platform last year.

As part of a multi-year agreement, StreamAMG will continue to deliver live matches to the platform, as well as on-demand content and live audio in both English and Spanish, making the club the first to offer bi-lingual commentary.

“Our priority is making engaging content easily accessible for our fans around the world and we feel that StreamAMG offers us the most reliable and innovative platform on the market,” said Russell Jones, Wolves’ Head of Marketing.

“We look forward to working with StreamAMG to offer our fans around the world even more options to consume world class content on multiple devices in multiple languages.”

Matt McKiernan, StreamAMG’s Chief Operating Officer, added: “We’re proud of our work to deliver WolvesTV and help grow the service. The club’s future looks bright on and off the pitch, and we’re delighted that we will be working with them for many years to come.”
