Susanna Dinnage backs away from Premier League CEO role
Discovery exec informs English soccer league that she will not be taking up lucrative position.

Susanna Dinnage will no longer take on the position of Chief Executive of English soccer’s Premier League.

Dinnage, who had been due to replace the outgoing Richard Scudamore early this year, told the organisation that she would no longer be taking up the role after deciding to remain at Discovery, where she is the Global President of the broadcaster’s Animal Planet brand.

Dinnage’s decision is thought to simply be the result of a change of heart, while she had reportedly not provided an exact start date.

A statement released by the Premier League said: "Despite her commitment to the Premier League in early November, Susanna Dinnage has now advised the nominations committee that she will not be taking up the position of chief executive.

"The committee has reconvened its search and is talking to candidates."

In the meantime, acting Chief Executive Richard Masters and Interim Chair Claudia Arney are to remain in their roles while the search for Scudamore’s successor recommences.

The BBC’s Tim Davie and ITV’s Tom Betts are thought to be in the frame, having been on the original shortlist, according to a report from UK newspaper The Guardian.

Prior to joining Discovery in January 2009, Dinnage held a number of senior roles, including more than ten years at Channel Five, where she played a key role in the launch of the network and its digital extensions.

Prior to that, she began her career at MTV Networks, working on the launch of a number of MTV and VH1 channels.
