Palermo seal Eleven Sports deal for Serie D campaign
Eleven Sports, the international pay-TV broadcaster, has tied up a media rights deal with Italian fourth-tier soccer club Palermo to air their matches this season.

Palermo, the phoenix club reformed in Serie D following financial difficulties and a registration back in July, will now have all their games broadcast via Eleven’s digital platform in Italy. Palermo join fellow oversized fourth-tier club Foggia in striking a deal with Eleven.

Competition for the rights was hotly contested, with Sky Italia and over-the-top (OTT) media company DAZN also interested in picking up live rights to the club who were expelled from Serie B.

Palermo were in Serie A as recently as the 2016/17 season. Foggia have not played in the top flight since 1994/95, but were consistent members of the second tier until financial and administrative problems saw them fold in 2017, before returning this season.

For Eleven, which bought Italian subscription internet broadcaster Sportube to enter the market in May 2017, the deals with Palermo and Foggia add to its streaming rights contract with Serie C that runs until the end of the 2022/23 season.

The Palermo and Foggia matches will be made available together with the Serie C matches at a cost of €5.99 (US$6.61) per month or €54.90 (US$60) for the year.
