Manchester United first Premier League club to launch app in Chinese
Manchester United have become the first Premier League club to launch a dedicated Chinese-language app.

The new platform will provide fans of the English soccer giants’ in China with an easier way to interact with the club through access to news and exclusive videos.

The Premier League made a similar move in November last year when it became the first top-flight domestic competition in Europe to roll out an official app exclusively in Mandarin for its followers in China.

United’s app, which is available on both iOS and Android devices, is one of a raft of new physical and digital initiatives the club are rolling out to better serve their Chinese fanbase.

The club have also unveiled a preview centre in Beijing as part of their tie-up with property developer Harves to open a series of themed entertainment and experience venues across China.

The preview centre, which also houses United’s first official megastore in mainland China, provides visitors with a glimpse into the experience being developed that will be in place when the entire venue opens in 2020, followed by more locations throughout the country.

Features at the centre include a replica of Old Trafford’s Trinity Statue, an interactive showcase of the club’s historical moments and a recreation of the players’ tunnel and changing rooms.

Bo Zhang, Harves Entertainment Chairman, said: “We share a vision for an engaging and immersive entertainment experience that will allow young people and fans more access to the historic club.”

United, who claim to have over 100 million Chinese followers, said the Beijing centre is the first of its kind for any soccer club. Future venues are slated for Shanghai and Shenyang.
