LaLiga President to address Soccerex Europe as part of renewed global partnership
Mr Tebas’ participation is part of a renewed global partnership between Soccerex and LaLiga, in the year of the League’s 90thAnniversary, which sees the Spanish league use Soccerex events around the world as a platform to engage with the global football community.
Under the leadership of Javier Tebas, LaLiga has gone from strength to strength with consistent periods of commercial growth underpinned by record broadcasting deals and commercial partnerships. The league boasts the world’s best players, has consistently accounted for the winners of European competitions and has cemented its place as one of the world’s most popular sporting competitions. At Soccerex, Mr Tebas will share his insights into how LaLiga will continue its growth and how he sees the European football landscape developing.
Javier Tebas Medrano boasts a long and distinguished career in football spanning more than two decades. He was appointed President of LaLiga in 2013 and immediately set about reducing the levels of debt member clubs. During his tenure, he has spearheaded the move to centralised audio-visual rights and led the league’s fight against piracy and the fight against any kind of violence in football. Innovation, technological development and internationalisation also represent other essential parts of his strategy. During these years he has increased the presence of LaLiga beyond Spanish borders, with an international footprint in 45 countries through offices in 10 countries (United Arab Emirates, the United States, Mexico, China, South Africa, Nigeria, Belgium, India and Singapore) and 43 LaLiga Global Network Delegates. As a result of this internationalisation, foreign interest in LaLiga broadcasting rights continues to grow, allowing people in more and more corners of the world to watch the Spanish league.
Mr Tebas’ is part of a significant LaLiga presence at Soccerex Europe which is hosted in partnership with the Municipality of Oeiras and the Portuguese Football Federation. The league will have a large stand within the exhibition, acting as a platform for delegates to meet with them and they are sponsoring the event’s VIP facility the “LaLiga Lounge”. In addition to Mr Tebas’ session, LaLiga will also be hosting a presentation on how they are supporting the digital activities of their member clubs through the development and implementation of personalised official mobile applications.
The global partnership between Soccerex and LaLiga for 2019 is the extension of a long running collaboration between the two organisations that has involved event activities in market such as Europe, Asia, North America and the Middle East. In addition to Soccerex Europe, LaLiga kicked off the new partnership at Soccerex China in May and will be an integral part of the second edition of Soccerex USA which is taking place in Miami on 21-22 November in partnership with Concacaf, LaLiga, MLS, NWSL and US Soccer.
