Getafe taps Upcycool in sustainability deal
Spanish top-tier soccer outfit Getafe have announced a partnership that sees their playing kit and equipment recycled by sustainability firm Upcycool.

The LaLiga club will also lean on Upcycool, who specialise in reusing pre and post-consumption products, to help achieve their sustainability goals.

Upcycool’s model is based on the idea of the circular economy, with the company’s expertise in reusing discarded materials being used to create new products, or ‘upcycling’. The deal will see Getafe’s old kit and equipment collected by Upcycool to be recycled, with manufacturing done locally to minimise carbon footprint and in limited numbers to reduce waste.

The partnership continues Getafe’s sustainable drive. Last year the club signed a recycling agreement with Ecoembes, a company who placed 74 bins and containers around the club’s Coliseum Alfonso Pérez stadium to reduce the venue’s waste output.
