DFB Pokal and 2 Bundesliga confirmed for Onefootball’s PPV offer
German pay-TV broadcaster Sky Deutschland has announced a pay-per-view (PPV) live soccer sublicense deal with Onefootball that allows for 2 Bundesliga and DFB Pokal matches to be streamed via the digital platform.

Users will be able to access Sky’s coverage from this coming weekend, with price options starting from €3.99 (US$4.43) for individual matches played in Germany’s respective second-tier and national cup club competitions during the 2019/20 season.

The partnership is the first of its kind in Germany and follows a similar arrangement Onefootball had with Eleven Sports for LaLiga matches the UK at the end of last season.

Hans Gabbe, Sky Deutshcland’s senior vice president for sports rights and commercialisation, said: “With this innovative form of distribution, we once again underline our digital competence and are able to reach young and price-sensitive football fans, whom we can introduce to the Sky brand and our first-class football broadcasts, right where they inform themselves about football."

In addition to the live offering, Onefootball users can also view Sky’s highlight clips from the Premier League, English soccer’s to-flight, available from 1am CET following each matchday.

Onefootball’s Chief Executive Lucas von Cranach said: "For us as a company, streaming live football in our app is the next big step to making Onefootball the ultimate football platform. We are the first company worldwide to offer football matches via pay-per-view in an app in partnership with well-known rights holders such as Sky Germany.

“This is our response to the ever-changing media landscape and the user behaviour of modern fans in the digital age. The entry into the German home market is particularly important for us, as this is our second biggest audience worldwide after Brazil.”
