DAZN’s Brazil soft launch to include free Coppa Italia YouTube streams
Over-the-top (OTT) service DAZN will stream free-to-air broadcasts of French soccer’s top flight Ligue 1, as well as Italy’s Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana, via Facebook and YouTube before its full platform launch in Brazil.
The move is to give the country’s soccer fans a flavour of DAZN’s upcoming production before the service goes live in March.
DAZN has now added rights to the Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa Italiana, Italy’s top two cup competitions, to its portfolio in Brazil.
Three out of eight Coppa Italia last-16 cup clashes will be available to watch via DAZN’s social media channels when the tournament returns this weekend, including Juventus vs Bologna on Saturday, Inter Milan vs Benevento on Sunday, and Roma vs Entella on Monday.
Two Ligue 1 clashes including Amiens vs Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday and Marseille vs Monaco on Sunday will also be available on Facebook and YouTube, followed by a livestream from on 17th January’s Supercoppa Italiana clash between Juventus and AC Milan.
It is understood that the selected matches will also be available via DAZN’s Goal.com portal.
As part of its operations in Brazil, DAZN will broadcast every match from Italy and France’s top tiers until 2021. DAZN confirmed in November that it would also offer selected games from those league via its social media channels.
Once live, DAZN will stream every game from Italy’s Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana, complimenting a deal to broadcast Copa Sudamericana, South America’s second-tier continental club competition, through 2023.
Elsewhere, Turkey-based agency Saran Media has reportedly acquired the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa rights in 14 territories until the end of the 2020/21 season.
