Copa Libertadores Femenina rights go to DAZN in Brazil

As part of the arrangement with Conmebol, the South American soccer’s governing body, DAZN will feature high-profile matches from the 16-team tournament, including every game featuring Brazilian clubs Corinthians and Ferroviária, via its Brazilian subscription service.
The tournament, which is due to take place in Quito, Ecuador, between 11th and 27th October, will feature 16 teams for the first time as part of a restructure including four groups of four.
Bruno Rocha, DAZN’s Executive Vice President in Brazil, said: “We are very happy to uniquely show Libertadores Femenina this year. We understand that this is a demand from our subscribers, who have a huge interest in football and quality competitions.
“There is nothing more natural than DAZN to bring an extremely representative competition… presenting an increasingly relevant portfolio for the Brazilian fan.”
Fred Nantes, Conmebol’s director of club competitions, said that the Copa Libertadores Femenina has been subject to “great growth” in recent, and that the agreement with DAZN will only help to increase the profile of women's soccer in Brazil.
DAZN officially launched its Brazilian operation in May, marking the company’s first step into the South American market.
As part of its portfolio, the platform currently has rights to other top-flight soccer, including Italy’s Serie A, France’s Ligue 1, Major League Soccer (MLS), and Japan’s J-League.
In August, DAZN also acquired a package of Brazilian rights to the English soccer’s Premier League, under a three-season sublicensing agreement with US broadcaster ESPN.
