Burnley reunite with Umbro in three-year kit deal
Top-flight English soccer side Burnley have announced a three-year technical partnership with domestic sportswear manufacturer Umbro.

The deal will see the Manchester-based firm supply Burnley’s first team kits for the first time since the 1980/81 campaign, ending the Premier League club’s long-term collaboration with German brand Puma, which has been providing the team’s uniforms since the 2010/11 season.

The agreement, which initially runs until the end of the 2021/22 campaign, also covers all replica and training wear. Burnley’s former deal with Puma was worth UK£1 million (US$1.3 million) per season, but no figures have been released around the Umbro contract.

“We welcome Umbro on board again and look forward to a fruitful partnership,” said Anthony Fairclough, Burnley’s head of commercial affairs. “Their iconic brand has stood the test of time and we are delighted to agree this three-year deal as we look towards a fourth season in the top-flight of English football for the first time since the start of the 1970s.”

The partnership adds to Umbro’s portfolio of Premier League kit supply deals, including tie-ups with Bournemouth, Everton and West Ham United.

Sam Lucas, head of sports sponsorship at Umbro UK, added: “They are a club with history and tradition while looking to build their future, which goes hand-in-hand with our brand values - and we hope that we can again create more memories, on and off the field.

“I’m sure the passionate fans will love the bespoke kits we’ve created in partnership with the club, and we’re all looking forward to seeing them being worn by fans and players in the coming months.”

The deal is the second major commercial agreement recently announced by Burnley, following their front-of-shirt and sleeve sponsorship tie-up with Asian betting brand LoveBet.
