PSG net Desports deal to grow Chinese reach
The Asian sports marketing agency will serve as the exclusive administrator of the Ligue 1 outfit’s sponsorship and licensing rights in China and Hong Kong.
The deal will be valid until the end of the 2020/21 season, and is reportedly valued at several million euros.
PSG are the most popular French soccer club in China, with 1.3 million followers across the country’s biggest social media platforms.
"We started the PSG project six years ago,” said Nasser Al-Khelaifi, president of PSG. “This partnership is further proof that our plans are paying off, through being included in the dynamic and promising Chinese market."
"We have big and strong ambitions in China, a great country and a crucial market for the club. The partnership with Desports is a great step forward in attracting many followers and guaranteeing more sponsorship and sales revenue, in a country that is passionate about football. We experienced our first experience in the region when we toured China and Hong Kong in the summer of 2014. And we hope to increase our presence in Asia in the coming months.”
PSG are currently 14 points clear at the top of Ligue 1, after winning 25 of their 29 games so far this season. They thumped FC Metz 5-0 at home on 10th March, and will host Angers SCO on Wednesday.
