Digi Sport acquires Bundesliga rights in Czech Republic
Pay-TV broadcaster Digi Sport has acquired the exclusive rights to broadcast German club soccer’s top tier, the Bundesliga, in the Czech Republic.

Digi Sport will show matches until the end of the 2020/21 season on its Digi Sport 2 HD and Digi Sport 3 HD channels.

The deal adds to Digi’s existing portfolio of soccer rights, which includes coverage of England’s Premier League and Spain’s La Liga.

Pan-European sports broadcaster Eurosport held Bundesliga rights in the Czech Republic until the end of the 2016/17 season as part of a multi-territory agreement.

Vladimir Rusnak, chief executive of Digi CZ, said: “We are constantly watching and evaluating the interest of our sports fans and trying to bring a programme according to their wishes.

“The Bundesliga was absent on the Czech TV market since last fall. In a recent audience survey, we have verified the strong interest of our spectators in the German football league and we are happy that we can really provide fans with the football we want.”

Digi Sport kicks off its coverage of the Bundesliga on Sunday when Borussia Dortmund host Eintracht Frankfurt, with both teams level on 42 points and looking to move into second place.
