Bayern Munich join forces with Japanese FA
The partnership, which will be focused on joint support of youth talent and the exchange of training philosophies, will see the Bundesliga giants send coaches to the Asian country for workshops and training events.
In return, coaches from the JFA will have the opportunity to participate in Bayern’s coaching initiative in Munich. In addition, friendlies between Bayern and JFA youth teams will be scheduled, while joint training camps are also part of the cooperation.
The deal expands Bayern’s footprint in Japan, where the club has been supporting talented male and female players at the FC Bayern Football School Tsuneishi since 2016.
“We are proud to announce this partnership with one of Asia's strongest associations,” said Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. “The cooperation with the JFA is an important step in pursuing our goals in Japan.”
“The Japanese market is highly interesting for FC Bayern,” added Jörg Wacker, Bayern’s executive board member for internationalisation and strategy. “The enthusiasm for football is impressive and the quality of young players is very high. That is why we founded the FC Bayern Football School in Japan, near Hiroshima, a few years ago. Now we want to add another building block to our global strategy with the partnership with the JFA.”
“I'm very happy the friendly relationship and sporting tradition between the JFA and FC Bayern continues, in the tradition of our mutual coach Dettmar Cramer,” said JFA president and Fifa council member Kōzō Tashima. “We are fascinated by the opportunity for our biggest talents to be introduced to the level that is required of young players in European top leagues today, at the FC Bayern Campus under the guidance of FC Bayern coaches.”
Bayern’s deal with the JFA coincides with their new Asia-focused partnership with Häfele, which has become the club’s regional home improvement partner for Thailand, Vietnam, India, Bangladesh, Myanmar and Sri Lanka.
