2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup names EDF as latest sponsor
Energy firm becomes fifth national sponsor of global soccer showpiece.

Soccer’s governing body FIFA has announced global energy supplier EDF as the latest domestic sponsor of the 2019 Women’s World Cup, which takes place in France next year.

The energy firm becomes the fifth national supporter of the eighth edition of the soccer showpiece, which is being held from 7th June to 7th July 2019 across nine host cities.

As part of the agreement, the company will also receive a bespoke ticketing and hospitality package as well as the right to use selected FIFA marks and footage throughout the competition.

Commenting on the deal, FIFA's Chief Commercial Officer, Philippe Le Floc’h, said: “Our strong line-up of national supporters clearly confirms the growing interest for women’s football.

“As part of our recently launched Women’s Football Strategy, FIFA is striving to broaden the exposure of women’s football and grow its commercial potential. Working together with high-profile companies such as EDF will definitely help us to achieve these goals.”

Julien Villeret, Communications Director of the EDF Group, added: “This partnership is in line with our existing commitment to football and reflects the values dear to the EDF Group: team spirit, inclusion and diversity.

“This competition will create opportunities to come together and share a passion for football. It is an exciting opportunity for EDF to be involved in such a global sporting event.’’

The draw for the 2019 Women's World Cup takes place this Saturday at the La Seine Musicale in Paris.
