Toyota nets Copa Libertadores extension

The automotive giant has sponsored the round-robin cup tournament since 1998. Bridgestone has been the title sponsor of the Conmebol event since 2012.
The Libertadores is the most prestigious soccer club competition in the Americas. The 2017 championship began in January with 47 teams from the continent’s ten federations. It will run through the year with its final being played in November at an unconfirmed venue.
Marcos Senna, commercial director of Conmebol, said: "We are delighted to deepen and strengthen our relationship with Toyota as the official sponsor of the Conmebol Libertadores Bridgestone, which has maintained a solid commitment to the development of South American football for many years. This will be very beneficial, not only for both parties, but also for football lovers. "
The 2016 Copa Libertadores was won by Columbia's Atlético Nacional, who beat Ecuadorian outfit Independiente del Valle 2-1 in the two-legged final.
