Manchester City to launch soccer school in China
Premier League leaders Manchester City have partnered with Beijing-based Kaiwen Academy to open a new soccer school in China.

The Kaiwen Manchester City Football School, which will launch in September 2018, will be led by City Football Schools coaches in order to provide Chinese students with an experience which replicates the training philosophy used for the top-flight English club’s first team and academy sides.

The initiative, which extends City’s commitment to developing soccer in China, is intended to provide young players with a bespoke soccer training programme alongside their traditional education. The long-term relationship will also see students travel to the UK each summer to play at the club’s training complex.

Damian Willoughby, senior vice president of partnerships at City Football Group, said: “We are delighted to launch the Kaiwen Manchester City Football School. Kaiwen is a prestigious institution and shares City’s commitment to playing an active role in the development of football in China.

“We are excited to extend Manchester City’s presence in Chinese education and provide more young players with the opportunity to improve their talents through playing the City way.”

Manchester City, who have won all but one of their games this season, remain 11 points clear at the top of the Premier League after their 4-1 trouncing of Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday. They travel to play Leicester in the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup domestic knockout competition later today, before hosting Bournemouth in the league on 23rd December.
