Gatorade to fuel Copa Libertadores

The company will use research obtained from the Gatorade Sports Science Institute (GSSI) to provide athletes with all their hydration needs.
“We are proud to add a leading brand in isotonic drinks like Gatorade to the Conmedol Libertadores cup," said Conmebol's commercial director, Marcos Senna.
"Teams will be able to remain hydrated and recover energies to give their best in each match. This alliance benefits us all, including our fans who will enjoy every activation of the brand and product innovations."
Tiago Pinto, a senior director at Gatorade, added that the agreement reinforced the company's "commitment to football in Latin America".
The Copa Libertadores is South America's premier soccer cup competition, consisting of 32 teams competing in a mixed round-robin and two-legged knockout format. Colombia's Atletico Nacional are the defending champions after beating Ecuador's Independiente del Valle 4-1 on penalties in the 2016 final.
