Jake Reid appointed Sporting Kansas City president
Major League Soccer (MLS) club Sporting Kansas City have appointed Jake Reid as their new president.

Reid, 33, joined the American side in 2010 as vice president of ticket sales and became chief revenue officer in 2012. He will oversee all of Sporting KC's business operations.

“I have been very fortunate to be part of this organisation for over five years and I am honored to move into this new role,” Reid said. “The staff that we have at Sporting Kansas City is amazing and they should be recognised for everything they do day in and day out. I am thankful we have an ownership group who constantly pushes all of us here to deliver the best fan experience in sports. This is an extremely exciting time and we are all looking forward to a great 2016 season."

Cliff Illig, the principal owner of Sporting Kansas City, added: "We are excited to see Jake's role increase at the club. Fan experience is a key priority for us at Sporting, and Jake has had a tremendous impact in this area. We are looking forward to continuing progress in all areas of the organisation."

Sporting Kansas City were eliminated in the conference knockout round of the MLS play-offs in 2016.
