DHL extends partnership with ISL
For the second consecutive year, DHL will deliver the match ball for all the league’s fixtures. It will also present the 'DHL Winning Pass' award to the player with the most assists in each match and, likewise, at the end of the season.
“Riding on the resounding success from last year, we are delighted to announce that we have extended our partnership with the ISL as we come on board this year as associate sponsor,” said RS Subramanian, DHL Express India’s country manager. “As the third most attended football tournament in the world, and the largest in Asia, we believe our partnership with ISL will help bring Indian audiences closer to the game and nurture emerging young talent to compete at a global platform.”
Elsewhere in Indian soccer, mobile phone manufacturer HTC has renewed with ISL club NorthEast United as their primary sponsor. The Taiwan-based company will be the front-of-shirt sponsor of the Assam club for the third year running.
"I feel a strong connect with the brand's focus on substance, style and innovation, which has enabled it to grow its connect with the youth, and I hope we can have a long-term association to bring about a resurgence in Indian football," said John Abraham, NorthEast United’s owner.
2015 ISL champions Chennaiyin FC have signed a one-year agreement with domestic electronics business Lloyd. The New Delhi manufacturer will assume the role of associate sponsor to the reigning champions, who beat Goa 3-2 in last year’s play-off final at the Fatorda Stadium.
Real estate company Ace Group will be the front-of-shirt sponsor of Mumbai City, continuing the collaboration into a third successive season.
Ace Group chief Ajay Choudhry said: “It is great to be associated once again with Mumbai City. They have a great fanbase and their vision for the development of football is definitely one we want to invest in and help them achieve.
“With the new coach and players such as [Diego] Forlan and [Sunil] Chhetri in the team, we are positive this will be a great season for Mumbai City.”
The 2016 ISL commences on 1st October with a match between NorthEast United and the Steve Coppell-managed outfit Kerala Blasters.
