Manchester United sign up for WeChat
Premier League side Manchester United FC have launched on Chinese social media platform WeChat.

In a statement, Manchester United announced its presence on the largest and fastest growing social messaging platform in China will allow users to access club news, videos and imagery direct to their phones via the Chinese-language messaging service.

The club went on to say that the launch on WeChat further reinforces their leading position on China’s social media scene, with a current combined following of over 13 million users across two of the country’s most popular social media platforms, Sina Weibo and Tecent Weibo.

Manchester United’s group managing director, Richard Arnold, said: “Manchester United is always striving to find new ways to engage with our fans around the world and the launch on WeChat in China is another exciting development in our social media offering.

“The club’s 107 million followers in China have already demonstrated their huge passion for United by making us the most followed sports club on our existing platforms and I’m sure this new WeChat service will experience similar success and help bring fans closer to the club.”

Manchester United are currently in fourth position in the Premier League and looking to cement their place in the top four to gain Champions League qualification for next season, having missed out on European qualification altogether last campaign.
