Leeds United announce Kappa kit deal
The Italian brand will supply matchday and training wear to the Championship side for the next five years. It will also create a range of replica merchandise for Leeds supporters.
The new home strip will be worn for the first time in a pre-season friendly with nearby non-league team Harrogate Town on 10th July, following an unveiling the previous day. It will be available to supporters on 11th July.
Macron had a partnership in place with Leeds until the summer of 2016 but that contract, which began in 2010, has been severed. Last November, the Italian sportswear firm made a claim of over UK£5 million from the club - UK£2.15 million in money owed and between UK£2.5 and UK£3.5 million in damages.
Leeds will also go into the new season without a front-of-shirt sponsor as their legal team settles a dispute with Enterprise Insurance.
No financial terms were released for the Kappa deal but executive director Adam Pearson told the Yorkshire Evening Post it was "extremely competitive" for the club.
Speaking to the club's official website, Leeds chairman Massimo Cellino said: "We are very happy that Kappa will be working with Leeds United for the next five years. I already appreciate how hard Kappa have worked with us to get things ready for the new season in such a short space of time since they first came to Leeds.
"These are exciting times for everybody. Kappa’s kits have been iconic in Italy for a long, long time and we are hoping to recreate that here in England. I can’t wait for the fans to see the new kit."
Leeds finished 15th in England's second tier in 2014/15.
