The football industry is made up of many different stakeholders, none more important that the leagues who provide vital competition structure, regulation and revenue that have allow the game to thrive across Europe. In this special session, senior representatives from European leagues,
the voice of professional football leagues across europe, will share their thoughts on the future of landscape of european football and the vital need to enhance and protect competitive balance in the game.
Lars-Christer Olsson is currently President of the European Leagues, formerly known as EPFL. He acts as well as President of the Swedish Professional Football League (SEF), a founding Member of the European Leagues. Lars-Christer has devoted most of his professional life to football. He served as the tournament Director for the EURO 92 in Sweden. Then, he worked as General Secretary of the SEF before taking a step up to the same position at the Swedish Football Association (SvFF). He was hired as Director of Professional Football & Marketing at UEFA, and then became CEO of UEFA from 2004 to 2007, a position that he held until coming back to his native Sweden to become the Swedish Football League’s President.
Since June 2019, Jacco Swart is the new European Leagues’ Managing Director, the organisation representing the interests of the national leagues. Previous to this new challenge, Jacco Swart worked as Marketing Manager at the Dutch Football Association and then went onto to the roles of Managing Director at Dutch clubs De Graafschap, Go Ahead Eagles and NEC Nijmegen. Jacco then became Managing Director of Eredivisie CV. In his role at the Eredivisie, Jacco Swart was Member of the Board of Directors at European Leagues and Member of the Steering Group at World League Forum.
