With the ever increasing cost of players and the prize money on offer for success, identifying and nurturing playing talent is a vital activity for all football clubs. as players progress through their academies, clubs must utilise a mix of coaching methodology and performance technology to develop their mental and physical attributes to the level necessary for them to perform at the highest level possible. At Soccerex, through a group of youth coaching and technology experts, we will analyse the talent creation mix and look at how clubs combine coaching philosophies with the latest in technology to develop their players.

Mr. David Hernández is the co-author of Ekkono, a football method used in professional clubs and federations worldwide to boost its identity. Moreover, Mr. Hernández has been involved in the football industry from many different angles: Head of Methodology Department at Paris Saint-Germain, Japanese Football Association Advisor, Sports Science University Professor or Individual Advisor for Professional Players.

Mr. Hernández expertise goes from: player path from academy to pro team, sustainable development to produce professional players, how to build an identity, club & federation as a reference for social transformation or how to implement a methodology departmental to become a reference.

Laura Van Leeuwen

Manager - Ajax Coaching Academy

As Academy Coordinator of the Ajax Coaching Academy, Laura (1985) is responsible for translating the Ajax philosophy into online and offline educational content and programs for clubs, coaches and players in the Netherlands and abroad. Her daily activities are as diverse as her personality itself: you can find Laura in small clubhouses of regional partnerclubs, but also in the boardroom of Sydney FC in Australia or a Major League Soccer club in the United States. With a keen eye for new business she is always on the lookout for new ways and opportunities to spread the Ajax philosophy on a global level. Laura has been involved in football from an early age.

As a player she was part of the youth squad of the Dutch National Team and during her student years she earned an athlete scholarship to play college soccer in the United States. After her active player career she earned her UEFA C youth license to become a youth coach at top level amateur side JEKA, and as a policy advisor for the Dutch Royal Football Association (KNVB) she has been the driving force behind winning the bid for the 2017 UEFA Women's Championship. Laura has managed to earn several academic degrees during her busy work and match schedules. From Tilburg University she obtained a master’s degree in Leisure Studies, and with an ORTEC TSS scholarship Laura completed the Sports Management program at the prestigious Johan Cruyff Institute. In the capacity of Academy Coordinator Laura aims to create a working atmosphere in which all her colleagues are being encouraged and facilitated in such a way that every day they can be the best version of themselves.

Physical Performance Coordinator

Whilst studying at the Faculty of Human Kinetics in Portugal and gaining his PhD from New Zealand's Waikato University, Francisco moved through the world of rugby, from Federacao Portuguesa de Rugby to the Glasgow Warriors.

At the beginning of 2019, Francisco moved into football by becoming the Physical Performance Coordinator at Sporting Clube de Portugal.

Jez Weeks is a football coach, coach educator and international sports development & operations consultant with 20 years experience working with The Premier League, The FA, London 2012, Fulham FC, Exeter City FC, Star Sixes, The Saudi Super Cup, Football for Peace and the Indian Super League. Jez has worked across Asia, Africa and the Americas with the Premier League's international programme 'Premier Skills'. Recently, Jez was part of the team that led England's successful bid to host the UEFA Women's European Championships in 2021.
