Leaving a Legacy: Soccerex 2008 welcomes Weah, Sané and Kalusha as confirmed speakers for Conference Panel
1:15pm Monday, 18th Aug 2008Soccerex is delighted to announce George Weah, Pierre Sané and Kalusha Bwalya as the latest confirmed speakers at Soccerex 2008 (23-26 November, Gauteng, South Africa).

Weah, Sané and Kalusha will feature on the Soccerex 2008 conference panel entitled 'Leaving a Legacy after 2010' which will examine the Corporate Social Responsibility implications following the FIFA 2010 World Cup and focus on how South Africa, and the African continent as a whole, can ensure a positive and lasting outcome for its future generations.
In a career spanning 14 years, George Weah has represented major European clubs including AC Milan and Chelsea. Whilst at the pinnacle of his game, he won many accolades including FIFA World Player of the Year, European Footballer of the Year, and African Footballer of the Year. Following his prolific football career, Weah moved towards political and humanitarian activities. He was appointed UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in 1997, FIFA Ambassador in 1998, and has campaigned extensively for child welfare using football as a means to bring happiness and help promote education for children.
Pierre Sané is UNESCO's Assistant Director-General for Social and Human Sciences. Prior to this appointment in 2001, he held the office of Secretary General of Amnesty International (AI) for almost a decade focusing on raising Human rights concerns with country authorities and the victims of Human Rights violations. Since joining UNESCO, Sané has reformed the Sector for Social and Human Sciences and headed a number of delegations including the World Conference Against Racism and the Second World Social Forum.
Kalusha Bwalya is Zambia's most capped player, top goalscorer, and is regarded as the greatest Zambian footballer of all-time. He has played for PSV Eindhoven, winning two championship titles. Following the Gabon plane crash in 1993, he spearheaded the revival of the Zambian Football team. From 2005, he was appointed head coach of the Zambian national team. He currently serves as a standing committee member of FIFA and the Confederation of African Football, President of the Football Association in Zambia and Ambassador for the FIFA 2010 World Cup.
