Spanish FA to share secrets of their success at Soccerex Global Convention

12 Nov 2012

Soccerex is proud to announce that the Spanish FA will be exhibiting at this year’s Soccerex Global Convention, in addition to Ginés Meléndez speaking on the ‘Building to win: the art of developing talent’ panel, sponsored by RPM Sports Management, alongside David Dein and Gérard Houllier in Rio de Janeiro on 24-28 November.

The Royal Spanish Football Federation will be exhibiting at the Convention with the 2010 FIFA World CupTM trophy, the 2008 & 2012 UEFA European Championship trophies. The stand is sure to be one of the main attractions at the exhibition and will provide delegates with a chance to see the silverware up close. Furthermore, it is the Federation and its Foundation’s intention to raise awareness around the different development projects they are carrying out in various countries and to promote their Football Academy, the Soccer Tours and other educational activities.

Ginés Meléndez, Technical Director and Coordinator of National Youth Teams, has played a crucial role in nurturing and developing some of the greatest Spanish players in today’s game, including Pique, Iniesta, Fabregas, Soldado, Mata, De Gea, Sergio Ramos since he joined the Spanish FA in 2002 to work with the U16 side. He won the UEFA European Championships U19 title in 2006 and 2011 as head coach and again as assistant coach in 2004 and 2007. He also assisted Juan Santisteban to two U17 victories, before taking over the U17 reins between 2008 and 2011 as well as winning a bronze medal at the 2009 U17’s World Cup as coach, two silver medals at the European U17’s in 2004 & 2010 and two silver medals at the 2003 and 2007 U17’s World Cup.

Commenting on his involvement, Ginés Meléndez said:

“Throughout my career I’ve had the pleasure of working with some of the greatest footballers, both on and off the pitch. Young players’ development should always be a key talking point in football and there is no better place in the world of football to discuss this, than at Soccerex. I look forward to speaking on the panel and sharing my experiences with David and Gérard.”

This ground breaking session joins an already world class conference programme which will feature an exclusive 1-2-1 session with FIFA General Secretary Jérôme Valcke, a ground breaking session on ‘Player Ownership and Transfers’ involving Pini Zahavi, a unique session on Goal Line technology, bringing together all of the key stakeholders, including the two licensed technologies chosen by FIFA, a special legends discussion with Sir Bobby Charlton and Carlos Alberto Torres and many more. The Soccerex Global Convention is a five-day business event consisting of a comprehensive seminar line-up, a number of networking opportunities, a two-day football festival and a packed exhibition which is already close to selling out.

Held in a purpose-built venue within the Forte de Copacabana, with panoramic views of both the famous Copacabana and Ipanema beaches, the exhibition is a hub for business activity; as one of the main components of the convention it provides a platform for leading suppliers from around the world to showcase the latest industry products and services to delegates.
