Soccerex hails success of Lagos Seminar

01 Oct 2012

Soccerex has hailed the success of the inaugural Soccerex Seminar Lagos, which drew to a close on Friday after attracting over 600 delegates.

The first international football business event in Nigeria came to an end and drew government officials, federations, rights holders and football legends, as well as over 40 brands including Pepsi, Porsche, Virgin Atlantic, Guinness and Edox. A 75/25 split between Nigerian and international attendees meant there was the right mix of local and international representation to help development of football in West Africa.

There were special guest appearances from former FIFA World Cup winner and Real Madrid legend Christian Karembeu, former Nigeria international Sunday Oliseh, ex-Bayern Munchen and Ghana legend Sammy Kuffour and ex-Feyenoord and Netherlands star Pierre van Hooijdonk. Executive Governor of Lagos State, His Excellency Babatunde Raji Fashola, said: “Soccerex will open Lagos as a distinct football destination, help grow the economy and drive development of football in Lagos State and all around the country.”

Soccerex CEO Duncan Revie added: “The Soccerex Seminar Lagos looks to have been a huge success for everyone involved. We would like to thank His Excellency Babatunde Raji Fashola for welcoming us to Lagos. We have learned a great deal about football in West Africa and have made long lasting friendships with our counterparts in Nigeria. Judging by this year’s attendance and feedback, next year’s seminar will be bigger and better which will help us build on the current success and to ultimately develop football across West Africa.” For more information on the Soccerex Seminar Lagos, please go to www.soccerex.com/lagos.
