Banking firm QNB Group has signed a three-year agreement with the Qatar Football Association (QFA), which will see it sponsor the country’s key championships.

The agreement, signed by Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, president of QFA, and Ali Shareef Al Emadi, the CEO of QNB Group, entitles QNB to act as the strategic sponsor for the Qatar national team, along with the Emir Cup and Heir Apparent Cup. QNB will also become the official sponsor of Sheikh Jassim Cup and Qatar Stars League, as well as the exclusive sponsor of Qatar Stars Cup.

In a QFA statement, Sheikh Hamad expressed his thanks to QNB Group’s CEO for “the usual outstanding commitment and support the bank dedicates to the Qatari football”. He also called on all Qatari national institutions and companies to take QNB as an example in their support of activities such as sport.

Al Emadi said QNB hopes to motivate the national team to reach international levels. “We always strive to achieve Qatar’s ultimate goal through sports association,” he stated. Al Emadi added that the achievements of QFA in recent years have attracted the attention of sports communities locally and internationally. “This is the primary motivation for the bank to provide the support needed to achieve their global goals,” he said.
