Newcastle seals Puma extension

15 May 2012

Sportswear giant Puma has agreed an extension of its current agreement with Barclays Premier League outfit Newcastle United.

Puma has been Newcastle’s official kit supplier since 2010-11 and Alan Pardew’s side rounded off a memorable campaign by debuting next year’s change strip in its season finale at Everton on Sunday. Despite being tipped as relegation candidates by some pundits last summer the north east club was one of the league’s surprise packages, securing an impressive fifth-place finish.

Stuart Middlemiss, head of retail at Newcastle, said: “The brand has an excellent reputation for quality and design, and their products for Newcastle United have been extremely popular with fans over the last two seasons. It’s a relationship we’re looking forward to building on in the 2012-13 campaign and beyond.”

Puma UK marketing director, Roger Harrison, added: “Our football portfolio continues to grow from strength to strength and our relationship with the club remains a priority for the brand. Newcastle United fans are passionate about their club and their love of football reflects the Puma brand’s own enjoyment and passion for the game. We are looking forward to continuing our successful partnership and supporting Newcastle United in their future successes.”
