Brazil 2014 shatters World Cup hospitality record
13 Jun 2012
MATCH Hospitality, the worldwide exclusive rights holder of the FIFA Hospitality Programme, on Tuesday announced that it has achieved record sales of US$262 million exactly two years before the 2014 World Cup kicks off in São Paulo.
Just over seven months after the official sales launch in November 2011, MATCH has surged past its projected sales targets, having already concluded deals equal to the total revenue generated by the hospitality programme for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Jaime Byrom, executive chairman of MATCH Hospitality, said: “We are absolutely thrilled by the overwhelming demand for hospitality packages for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The very positive market sentiment is testimony to the extraordinary appeal which the unique combination of Brazil and FIFA’s flagship competition offers. International demand has also been remarkable considering that the qualifying competitions are still in their early stages or yet to start.”
MATCH has reported that various products are performing beyond expectations, including the Private Suites and Venue Series in São Paulo, which are no longer available and in Rio de Janeiro, where only a handful remain available. Packages for the Team Specific Series for host nation Brazil have also been snapped up across all categories. To date, the total number of packages sold across all categories and series is close to 90,000.
Pascal Portes, chief operating officer of MATCH Hospitality, added: “The domestic Brazilian market has immeasurable potential. There are still a very large number of companies and individuals which have shown interest but have yet to place orders. The enormous demand shows that customers should not wait to purchase packages as Brazil 2014 will be a truly outstanding FIFA World Cup.”
